7 DOORS – an interactive trail for Ventnor Fringe 2025!
7 DOORS is a new site-specific art trail at this year’s Ventnor Fringe Festival (2025) – and we’re proud that many of the participating artists are members of the IW Creative Network.
This imaginative project invites audiences to uncover 7 unique “doorway” installations hidden across Ventnor. Each door has been created by a different artist, responding to the spirit of the Fringe and the landscape of Ventnor. The result is an interactive journey that blurs the boundary between the everyday and the unexpected – where doors don’t just open, they reveal stories, prompt reflection, and invite playful connection.

You can also hear more about the project at our Artists Breakfast on Wednesday 23rd July, taking place at Ingrams Yard during Ventnor Fringe, where several of the artists involved will be talking informally about their work and process.
Meet the Artists & their Doors:
Teresa Grimaldi – Have you Seen Sam?
Location: Ingrams Yard
The Sandown Clown Investigation Bureau is coming to your town…
Nathan Holt – Translating Frequencies:31
Location: St Catherine’s
A wardrobe installation exploring subsonic field recordings captured at St Catherine’s Church. Using sound and instinctive pattern-making, Nathan invites listeners to tune into the site’s unseen and unheard layers.
Abi Wheeler – Stay Afloat
Location: Paddling Pool
Made from Axminster wool and airbag packaging, Abi’s ongoing project reflects on absurd attempts at self-sufficiency during crisis.
Mark Cosby – Perceptions
Location: Putting Green
Come to the park and get a new look?
Alicia French – Interanea / Internal Things
Location: Box Office
A suspended soft sculpture made from recycled materials, exploring the boundaries of the known and unknown, comfort and discomfort. Visitors are encouraged to interact, take the sculpture outside, and engage physically with the piece.
Kathy Williams – Who We Are
Location: Park / Trees
A sculptural installation using mirrors and windows to reflect ourselves and one another. A powerful reminder of shared humanity – and a playful moment of connection. Don’t forget to take a photo and share it with Kathy via the QR code.
Julie Hutchinson – Where exactly are we?
Location: FlowersBrook
A contemplative site-specific work that explores the relationship between self, place and presence.
7 DOORS will be live throughout Ventnor Fringe 2025, with works free to explore across town.
