Opportunities with Crying Out Loud

Crying Out Loud is a network leader in the UK and advocates for artists and contemporary visual theatre by making connections and initiating collaborations.

They’ve sent us a range of opportunities for creatives to participate in – priority given to those living in or with professional connections to the Solent area (Isle of Wight, Gosport, Portsmouth, Havant, New Forest) and can also assist with travel costs for activities! Solent Connections – 1:1 Advice Sessions – ongoing

Are you an artist or venue/organisation based in the Solent area (Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Gosport, Havant and New Forest) with a passion for or an interest in supporting visual/physical theatre or contemporary circus?

Crying Out Loud are offering free, 1:1 advice sessions with a member of their team. The sessions are an opportunity to:

  • Find out up-to-date information about the sector
  • Receive signposting to useful resources
  • Talk through your ideas and plans
  • Work through blocks in your practice
  • Find out about Crying Out Loud programmes across the Solent, UK and internationally.

Crying Out Loud will listen to your needs and feed them in to their future plans for supporting performance artists.

Technical Crew Shadowing – 28th & 26th June 2024

Train over two days with the The Revel Puck Circus (RPC) technical team on site during the technical get-in and the first day of rehearsal. Whether your interest is in rope access and learning how to measure loading and breaking limits, or if you’re curious about sound or focusing lights, the experienced RPC team will ensure participants experience all the big top has to offer, including experiencing The Nose Dive Assembly show live at the end of the placement. Plus a Q&A with the RPC production team and COL, who are working across the Solent to support artists/producers and the infrastructure of the performance of visual/physical theatre. 

Costs: Placements are unpaid, but all training, support and lunch is provided free of charge.

Acro Jam & Artists Shadowing – 4th/ 5th July 2024

Experience a day-in-the-life of a circus artist. Participants will join an Acro Jam, led by the The Revel Puck Circus (RPC) professional artists, learning to lunge, work in teams and safely develop movement and group acrobatic skills. Then shadow the RPC artists as they attend show notes, warm ups and presets before attend The Nose Dive Assembly show. Plus a Q&A with the RPC artists and Crying Out Loud, who are working across the Solent to support artists.
