CPD for Artist Facilitators & Outdoor Educators

Artswork are running an online Creative Professional Development (CPD) session for creatives and outdoor educators working with/or who would like to work with young people at risk of poor mental health on Tuesday 13th Dec 2022, 13:30 – 17:30.

This is a half-day online CPD session to better equip local artist facilitators, outdoor educators and cultural education practitioners to work in ways that promote good mental health and wellbeing for children and young people (CYP).

Facilitated by Artswork with input from Isle of Wight Youth Trust and ImROC.

Learn about evidence-based practice that promotes good mental health and wellbeing for CYP.
And it’s completely free!

  • Learn from experts at the IW Youth Trust about the current mental health needs of CYP on the IW
  • Reflect on your own practice
  • Explore models of good practice that can be used in the planning, delivery and evaluation of wellbeing activities for CYP
  • Understand the difference between creative therapeutic interventions conducted by trained professionals (e.g. therapists, counsellors) and creative activities that are facilitated by non-trained counsellors or therapists
  • Hear recommendations from mental health professionals on safe and effective working with CYP who may experience poor mental health due to their circumstances

The IW Supporting Young Minds project, in partnership with Artswork, is led by The Island Collection – host organisation of the IW Cultural Education Partnership (IW CEP) – and managed by IW CEP member organisation Independent Arts. Partners include IW Youth Trust, Community Action IW, Energise Me, IW Council and IW AONB.
