Profile
She currently explores the medium of drawing, painting, and sculpture, seeking to draw out the uncanniness of everyday life and nature that lies dormant within our surrounding environment. Her particular curiosities lie within nature's organic beings, generating inanimate forms that look like they could become animate at any moment; lending to the art movements of Organic and Biomorphic Abstraction. Her work touches upon phobias such as trypophobia and arachnophobia to lend towards the uncanny opposites in her work; known and the unknown, comfort and discomfort, the familiar and the unfamiliar. This combination of subject matter being of interest due to the unexpected response from the viewer, as some experience discomfort and some are drawn even closer to the work, with curiosity taking over. It’s this particular moment that the work goes through that lends to it’s on going dialogue shifting between each individual who confronts it.
