Artist working in hand embroidery and stitch sculpture

Anna has been hand sewing, playing with thread and fabric in a variety forms since childhood. She has always found the simple act of slowly passing thread through fabric calming.

Much as an artist uses a pencil or brush, thread is used to create line, texture and colour. Stitch can be free flowing or ordered and constrained. It is  flexible and lends itself to being unpicked, altered, adjusted and layered.

Anna is embarking on a new path of embroidery discovery. She is exploring how to manipulate stitch to express her thoughts and understanding of the world. Currently she is working on a series of embroideries including 3D works illustrating the human impact on the planet.

Anna has been on numerous stitch short courses and gained a City and Guilds in Hand Embroidery in 2022.

A lamp work glass bead maker since 2005, Anna runs basic bead making classes for one or two people in her garden workshop.
