I am drawn to the Island’s coastline and aim to capture the effect of the changing seasons and time of day on the land. I start paint in situ so that I can appreciate the wind, movements and sounds in that moment, which I endeavour to capture in my work.
Back in my studio, I use a variety of tools: large brushes, sponges, palette knives, wedges ad blades letting the paint speak for itself and I use a limited palette, moving around the board to create balance and harmony.
I welcome commissions, enjoying the challenge of capturing the essence of a view from another person’s perspective.
I share my painting process with others teaching a monthly painting group and running weekend workshops in which I support students to develop their own expressive style.
