Jacob enjoys creating textures such as fur and folds and creases in skin using the precision of pens and pencils. His influences come from natural history illustrations, etchings, woodcuts and engravings.
Beyond the visual form, Jacob explores ideas and symbology through the depiction of animals to express facets of the human condition.
Many of the animals depicted in his work have been observed in real life on his travels in several continents as well as his home on the rural Isle of Wight, UK.
Jacob studied Illustration, painting and drawing at Falmouth University of the Arts, UK and is an associate member of the International Society of Animal Artists. He has also worked as a professional graphic designer and illustrator for nearly two decades working for a range of clients including the BBC, PBS America and Gestalten Publishing.
