Jodie Redrup

I studied Art and Design in my GCSEs and A levels, and then specialised in Art and Design as part of my teaching degree. I achieved 1st Class (BA Hons) in Primary Teaching (3-7 years). I went on to teach 7-8 year olds in a primary school setting for 3 years before returning to work with my family in our family run bakery on the island. 

I now digitally paint animals and people's pets in my free time. I used to paint primarily with water colour and acrylic, but have turned my attention to digital painting over the last few years! I follow much of the same process but with less of the mess, the joy of an undo button, and just the one pencil..

I adore capturing animals in my work. I love studying and recreating fur patterns (or the odd feathers and scales!), along with trying to portray the personalities of beloved pets. My work ranges from basic line drawings to hyper-realistic. I have also recently begun to explore story telling in the form of comic strips and simple animation.

My 'little otter eating cake' logo is featured on their website and promotional items such as t-shirts, badges, car stickers etc. I am a keen promoter of open water swimming, and I swim in the sea at Seaview Quay Rocks most mornings with a wonderful group of fantastic characters. Stuart at SlowSwimming organises excellent fundraising swim events which encourages people from all over the UK to join in and experience the joys open water swimming.

My 'Creatures' logo is featured on their socials and promotional products. Mel runs a non-profit Rat Rescue and Pet Sanctuary and does amazing work for the rats and many other creatures she looks after. I used to keep rats as pets myself and they were such a joy to have in my life. - Randy Racoon Wildlife Rehab: Randy rescues and rehabilitates Racoons and other wildlife. It all started with a wonderful racoon called Rocket. I painted a portrait of Rocket for Randy and his portrait has since gone on to become well used on promotional products and cards.
