Presenting on Mon 23 Sept 2024: Andrew Butcher:
Our next Group Crit Session is tailored for performance artists! This session will feature Andrew Butcher, who will present his proposed project, ‘Identity Crisis’. Andrew is developing this project for an Arts Council England (ACE) funding application, and he’s seeking your critical feedback.
‘Identity Crisis’ consists of two shows that blend storytelling, character performance, and spoken word to delve into themes of identity and mental health. Drawing on personal experiences and poetry, Andrew’s work connects with audiences aged 13+, particularly those who are neurodivergent. The project aims to foster openness and understanding around mental wellbeing.
Themes include:
- Trauma
- Mental health
- Personality masking
- Time & change
- Parenthood
This session is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in performance art to provide constructive feedback, share insights, and engage in meaningful conversations. Chaired by artist support specialist Alys Scott Hawkins, this crit session will help Andrew refine his project ahead of his ACE application.
Whether you’re a performer, writer, or simply interested in exploring complex themes through art, this is a great opportunity to critique, connect, and collaborate.
