Profile
Sarah Rae is an emerging illustrator, graphic designer and baker’s daughter based on the Isle of Wight, with a particular interest in portraiture, collage and mixed media. She believes the power of illustration is in it’s ability to tell stories where words alone are not sufficient. Colours, texture and body language are powerful tools in communicating emotions that are difficult to narrow down.
Sarah graduated from Falmouth University with an MA in Illustration in 2022 and was successfully awarded a grant through the developing your creative practice fund from Arts Council England. During this DYCP year Sarah is exploring the many and varied stories of inspirational women on the Isle of Wight through illustration and animation. In 2023, she plans to run a set of workshops in collaboration with the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. These workshops will tell the stories of Emily Merwood, former Station Mistress for Whippingham Station in 1888 and Sarah Taggart a current Isle of Wight Steam Railway volunteer.
