Special Film Screening + Q&A with Artist Kerry Lemon

Brighton based artist Kerry Lemon will be Artist in Residence at Ventnor Botanic Gardens (14-25th Aug) and having an informal sharing of her current work-in-progress at Quay Arts on Sun 20 Aug, starts 3pm. All are welcome to this FREE event.

Kerry is best known for her monumental sculpture which seeks to connect audiences to the natural world. Her studio practice focuses on the commonality between womxn and plants and she uses the term ‘womxn’ with a ‘X’ to include trans and nonbinary women. Her current research project titled Mrs Roe responds to the recent Roe vs Wade overturn in the USA. It is a violent reaction to the historical criminalisation of abortion and explores female dislocation from nature via the lost eco-cultural heritage of abortive native herbs.

This is a fantastic FREE opportunity to hear from this fascinating artist and her creative response to contemporary issues. Click here for more info and to book your place.

Sunday 20th August, starts 3pm at Quay Arts
Sea St, Newport
Isle of Wight

Please note, this work is explicit and explores the potentially triggering subject of abortion.
